There are several common themes I notice while coaching clients and having conversations with other business owners. One of these themes is the notion of the goals that drive you.
Motivation is an inside job. While inspiring speakers can motivate us, we need to have some capacity to motivate ourselves on an ongoing basis. Getting clear on your goals is vitally important in order to have motivation.
Here are three quick questions you can ask yourself:
1. Have I written my top three goals down in the last 3 months?
2. When I read my goals and think about them, do I feel energized and excited about them?
3. Is my goal slightly scary or daunting?
I’m well aware that different personality types get more excited than others. My husband is an engineer and I love him dearly, but he doesn’t get as excited about things as I do! That’s ok, each person is unique. What matters most is that your goal is the right goal for you.
